NEWBORN SESSIONS $125
(your first $50 worth of prints from your gallery are complimentary)
With newborn photography, I look to be creative, and give you a beautiful piece of artwork that will forever preserve the first weeks of your child's life. First and foremost, your baby’s safety is of utmost importance. Rest assured, those hanging shots you see out there (babies dangling from branches in slings, etc) are edited carefully during the hours spent post-processing these shots. They are not really hanging from a tree branch! Expect the session to last an hour, or even two! I don't just snap a few shots and run. I'll sit there forever waiting for that little sleep-smile that only newborns give me! Having had two children of my own, I know that those early weeks are priceless, and that they go by in the blink of an eye. It brings me great joy to photograph newborns. It’s the best job in the world.
TIPS:
Sessions must occur within 10 days of your baby’s birth to ensure optimal sleepiness! Please try and book them for 8 to 10 days after your due date, or have someone contact me right away to schedule when the baby is born.
I will come to you, to ensure you and baby’s comfort, however it’s important to have a warm room with minimal distractions, and enough floor space (a 10x10 area) for lighting.
A small space heater comes in handy for extra warmth, and provides some soothing white noise. I will set up while you nurse or bottle feed your baby so he or she can get nice and sleepy!
Keep baby snuggled in a warm blanket wearing only a diaper so there is no need to wake baby by changing outfits. Most shots are done with a diaper cover, hat, materials, or other props, so there is no need for elaborate outfits that never look right on a newborn anyway.
Above all, remain relaxed! There will be diaper changes, maybe some crying, another feeding, it’s all okay and I am never in a rush! Your baby can do no wrong and will look adorable simply by being the beautiful baby that they are! If we can’t get a shot you really want, we’ll take a small break and go back to it.
